RESTAURANT SPARKS OUTRAGE

Paisano’s Italian Restaurant has sparked outrage after putting ‘Black Olives Matter – Try Our Tapenade’ on its menu board.

Following the fatal shooting of street seller Alton Sterling and the graphic video of it going viral, a #blacklivesmatter hashtag was created to go alongside social media posts. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an international activist movement, originating in the African-American community, that campaigns against violence toward black people.

The owner of Paisano’s Italian, Ricky Camuglia said he thought it was a cute play on words. “It was never our intention to offend anybody,” said Camuglia in a statement.
