Highly Surprised

Two young children and their mother have accidentally ingested marijuana after consuming a brownie sold to them at a Perth store. Known only as Michael and Sharon, the complainants told the ABC that after a trip to Bada Bing Café in Woodlands, on March 2nd, their five-year-old daughter began describing her vision as “jumping”. Their three-year-old son, Thomas, was very drowsy, and Sharon developed similar symptoms to Emily.

According to the ABC, hospital tests revealed that the three of them each had traces of marijuana in their systems. Following the initial incident, Michael returned to the store and purchased more brownie, taking it home to freeze and keep as evidence. Analysis of the brownie confirmed the presence of THC and other cannabinoids.

Nathan Sharp, business owner of Bada Bing Café, was subsequently charged with two counts of selling food that was unsuitable. Concerns continue with Michael, Sharon, and the kids, as Sharon said, “We go to other cafes, or different places, or even cook and [the kids] ask ‘Does this have marijuana in it?’”

Bada Bing Café is a family business, and they have cooperated fully with the investigation.
