WOMAN AND CHILD TRAPPED IN CHEESECAKE SHOP

An elderly motorist crashed into Whangarei’s cheesecake shop leaving a woman and her five year-old daughter with serious injuries. The two were standing in line at the Tarewa Rd Cheesecake Shop waiting to purchase a birthday cake when the car crashed into the shop and pinned them against the counter.

Shop owner Jenny Gu told the NZ Herald that they were just standing beside the case waiting for service and the car crashed into them.

“The customer had just told my staff member what cake she wanted and my staff had gone into the back to get it out when the car crashed. It was for the little girl’s birthday. It is so terrible,” said Gu.

Extensive damage has been made to the store and the glass front went everywhere.
