AUSTRALIA | Zarraffa's Coffee has opened its latest store in South East Queensland, expanding to the Underwood North area.

Australian specialty coffee retailer Zarraffa’s Coffee is set to strengthen its presence in South East Queensland with the highly anticipated opening of its new Underwood North location.

This latest addition to the Zarraffa’s family has not only enhanced convenience for coffee lovers but also underscored the brand’s commitment to providing premium coffee and exceptional service to local communities across Australia.

Located next to the OOM Energy Fuel Station on Logan Road, the Underwood North drive-thru site offers a one-stop shop for busy commuters, combining the brand’s premium coffee and fuel services.

This new store is a family-led venture, operated by seasoned multi-store Franchisees Robbie and Sonya Farr, alongside their daughter Abbie. Together, the Farr family has brought a wealth of experience and passion to the Zarraffa’s brand across their now three stores.

Sonya, a former state and federal police officer, and Robbie, a professional race car driver for 25-years, switched gears seven years ago after they fell in love with the brand and opened their first store in Underwood (2018), then took over the reins of Currambine in Western Australia (2023).

“We’ve always admired what Zarraffa’s represents, and when we decided to take the leap many years ago, it was because we fell in love with the brand’s franchise model, product consistency and friendly faces,” said Robbie Farr.

“We are so happy to have our daughter, Abbie, now involved in our new store. From being a barista for many years, to taking on the business operations alongside Sonya and I, is really special to see it carry on generations.”

Farr added that the opportunity to expand the family’s footprint with a new store so close to its existing Compton Road location was too good to pass up.

“As a family, we’re excited for this next chapter in the journey to bring our passion for coffee to more customers in the Underwood area.”

The Underwood North store will create up to 30 job opportunities for the local community through a dedicated recruitment and training program. Additionally, experienced team members from the Farr family’s Underwood store will provide hands-on support to ensure a seamless opening.

“We look forward to meeting our new neighbours and welcoming both new and familiar faces to our store, as we aim to make a positive impact on the community and deliver the exceptional coffee experience Zarraffa’s is known and loved for.”

Reflecting on their journey as franchisees, Farr highlighted the opportunities they’ve encountered along the way.

“Being part of the Zarraffa’s family has been a rewarding experience and opened our eyes to a whole new way of doing business with a product we love, coffee. The brand’s strong support network and commitment to innovation have helped us thrive and we’re excited about the future, playing a proud role in Zarraffa’s ongoing growth,” he added.

Zarraffa’s Coffee CEO Marnie Sheldon said this was an exciting milestone for the Farr family as they open the doors to their third store and expand their presence in the Underwood community.

“They’ve worked hard over the years to deliver our brand promise, and with their passion for the brand and commitment to delivering an exceptional coffee experience, we are confident the new store will quickly become a local favourite,” said Sheldon.

“Underwood North is the first store in our pipeline of new sites set to open in 2025. Our focus over this next year remains about growth, not only in footprint by delivering Zarraffa’s to more locations across Australia, but also in enhancing our customer value proposition and experience.”

Zarraffa’s strategic growth strategy is currently in play, with the Aussie-owned specialty coffee company’s sights set on expanding to over 200 sites nationally in the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

“We’re scouting locations all across the country and are excited to bring our much-loved cup to coffee-loving communities all across Australia.”
