UK | Soaring Temperatures Close Hospo Venues

As UK temperatures are forecast to reach up to 41C, pubs and restaurants around England have announced they will temporarily close for a couple of days.

In London, The Drapers Arms announced on Instagram that the pub would close for staff welfare.

“Monday (Tuesday local time) is looking like an unacceptable heat for staff so we’re closing for the day.”

Other businesses shared similar messages on social media. This comes as the hospitality sector is finally starting to recover from the impacts of Covid and will surely come as another blow.

The Met Office issued a red extreme heat warning in much of England, from London and the south-east up to York and Manchester. High temperatures are also expected across the rest of the UK with amber warnings in the rest of England, all of Wales and parts of Scotland.
