UBER STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM WITH LEWIS ROAD CREAMERY

Kiwis will be first in the world to enjoy ice cream on demand as part of the global Uber Ice Cream day. More than 400 cities in 69 countries will be taking part in the promotion including New Zealand's Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch cities.
This is the fifth annual Uber Ice Cream event where ice cream lovers are treated to ice creamy goodness within minutes when they download the Uber app and request Uber Ice Cream.

This year Uber has partnered with uber-premium dairy brand Lewis Road Creamery, who have developed an exclusive, one-day-only flavour especially for the event - Lewis Road Creamery Premium Strawberry Ice Cream.

To get your hands on a tub, you have to order it via the Uber app which goes live at 11 am today.

New users of the Uber app who sign up with the code 'ICECREAMNZ' will get two 120ml Lewis Road tubs for free, while those who are already Uber users are also able to take part for the cost of $20.

For every Uber Ice Cream order placed, Uber will donate one tub to the Eat My Lunch programme as a special back-to-school treat for a child in need.

"This is the largest Uber Ice Cream day ever with almost twice as many cities taking part as last year," said Richard Menzies, head of operations for Uber New Zealand. "It's always an extremely popular global day, and all eyes will be on New Zealand as wee are the first in the world to kick it off."

Lewis Road Creamery founder Peter Cullinane is encouraging people to give Uber Ice Cream a go as this will be their one opportunity to try the brand's exclusive, one-day-only strawberry flavour.

"Our team was excited by the challenge to create a new flavour especially for Uber Ice Cream, and we've put just as much love into making it as we would any other product we develop," said Cullinane.

"Our Premium Strawberry Ice Cream is made the old fashioned way with whole cream, milk, eggs and real strawberries. We're sure it's going to be popular today, despite the fact it's the middle of winter - it's quite simply delicious."

Uber Ice Cream takes place today in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch between 11 am and 5 pm (or while stocks last).
