Remuera’s favourite local pub, The Corner, has reopened with a refreshed menu and interiors designed to welcome old friends and new faces alike.
The kitchen team at The Corner, in collaboration with local food creator and recipe developer Melie Ferrier, has created dishes that feel familiar yet renewed, pairing pub classics with new favourites that are made for sharing. It is a menu crafted for the moments that matter: celebrations, game day, date nights, and long evenings with friends.
“Working with Paddy, Vic, and their team has been such a joy,” said Ferrier.
“They really know their customers, and it is clear how much heart they put into every dish. We have built something together that celebrates the spirit of The Corner while offering something new for everyone to enjoy.”
Paddy and his father, Peter, opened The Corner more than a decade ago with a simple vision: to bring heart to the Remuera neighbourhood through warm hospitality, great drinks and consistently good food.
Reflecting on the refreshed menu, Paddy said, “Our team has worked incredibly hard alongside Melie to develop a menu that complements her feature dishes. It’s about creating food people genuinely love, while keeping that inviting, neighbourhood atmosphere at the centre of everything we do.”
First opened in 2016, The Corner has long been a trusted gathering spot for the Remuera community, celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere, speciality pours, and events that draw locals back week after week. Treated by many as an extension of home, it is equally a destination for visitors seeking a pub done exceptionally well.
The menu update is complemented by a considered interior refresh. Across the bar, courtyard, and bathrooms, Ctrl Space has drawn on classic London pub influences balanced with modern, enduring details. The refreshed brand identity, designed by Lucy Kirkwood of Friends of Friends (who also designed Waterboy), mirrors the open and inviting energy that defines The Corner experience.
“Our ambition was to breathe new life into Remuera’s favourite local while staying true to the pub’s warm, familiar soul,” said Ctrl Space.
“This refresh builds on what regulars love, pairing classic elements with a stylish, lasting design that allows old friends and new visitors alike to feel at home.”
The updated layout now offers distinct spaces to suit every mood and occasion. The main pub area features leaners and bar tables with screens for sport, a casual and cosy seating area with tiled tables, Moroccan rugs, rattan details, and oversized Bordeaux hanging shades.
Once home to a private dining room and wine cellar, the space has been reimagined as The Den, a darker, more intimate setting designed for late nights and lively gatherings. With French-wash mangrove panels, velvet pine drapes, ambient wall sconces, a pool table, screens and an open fire, The Den invites guests to settle in and stay a little while longer.
Outside, the refreshed courtyard features washed walls, painted trellis frames, climbing greenery, and festoon lighting, offering an inviting backdrop for long afternoons that extend into evenings.
With its renewed menu, refreshed spaces, and enduring sense of community, The Corner continues to be Remuera’s destination for relaxed dining, group gatherings, and leisurely evenings.
Remuera’s favourite local is back, refreshed, re-energised, and ready for the next ten years and beyond.
