The Caker Returns to Auckland

The Caker

Famed New Zealand baker Jordan Rondel, better else known as The Caker, has announced her popular Auckland bakery will be resurrected for a one-off pop-up event.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, the pop-up shop will be run through Remuera bakery, Mor Bakery, from 9:00 a.m. on May 12th. Rondel made the announcement via The Caker’s official Instagram account.

Three signature recipes will be made available to fans, as well as a new recipe with a Mor Bakery twist. The minicakes will be limited to three per person, and will be sold to customers first-in, first-serve.

Since dropping out of university at 21 to follow her dream, the self-taught baker began an illustrious career internationally.

The Caker brand has become synonymous with local and international celebrities, who have praised Rondel’s unique flavour combinations, delectable flavours, and even her bake-at-home kits. In the past, Rondel has dealt with ultra-influencer Chrissy Teigen and made Miley Cyrus’s birthday cake.

Rondel’s bakery closed last year after ten years of business. The popular K’ Road location became infamous with local cake fanatics and built a substantial international reputation as well.

Rondel said the closure was heartbreaking to close that chapter of her life, although it was the start of new endeavours for her and the brand.

“This bakery has been the foundation for building what The Caker is today - a brand and a community that extends two continents and is in the homes of thousands upon thousands of cake lovers,” Rondel said in a statement via Instagram.

Rondel frequently travels between New Zealand and Los Angeles and has teased various upcoming projects. One particular focus for her in the past has been her judging role on the popular television series 'The Great Kiwi Bake Off'. She has also authored several cookbooks and has become a celebrity in her own right.
