Taste of Argentina

Argentinian eatery, Casa Esquina, is the latest offering from Atticus Hospitality. The new restaurant is found in the affluent suburb of Balmain in Sydney. Casa Esquina opened in mid-February in a historic landmark building that was the former location of L’Unico and Efendy.

Head chef Will Quartel has comprised a menu following a three-week visit to Argentina alongside Atticus Hospitality Director Michael Fegent to research potential flavours, ingredients and recipes. Dishes featured on the new menu will also be cooked on two parrilla barbeques on site.

The restaurant has included traditional and cultural elements of Argentinian cuisine, to offer customers an authentic experience. Street-food-styled dishes will be served on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, whilst Sundays are reserved for whole lambs and suckling pigs cooked on the open-flame parrillas.

Argentinian-styled pizza, Fuguzzeta, will also feature on the menu, as well as sweet bread and prawn paella, black garlic pasta with stracciatella, and kangaroo and maraschino cherry empanadas.

Various wines grown and specific to the Argentinian region will be available, as well as from other South American labels. Australian and Spanish wines will also feature on the wine list.

The signature Tequila Mockingbird cocktail from the group’s Paddington venue will be on order at the new opening, as well as a Fernet Royale which is a take on Argentina’s national drink Fernet-Branca and Coca Cola.

Signature cocktails have been crafted for Casa Esquina, including the Tequila Mockingbird, which has featured at Atticus Hospitality’s venues in Paddington. Also featured on the cocktail menu is a Fernet Royale, which has been inspired by the national drink of Argentina – Fernet-Branca and Coca-Cola.

Atticus Hospitality said that the venue is elevated but approachable, and it would be a sophisticated take on Argentinian cuisine cooked with a friendly, local, and approachable vibe.

The group has specifically put emphasis on creating an offering that caters to all types of dining, be it takeaways or for a special occasion.
