Taranaki finds their NSSCC Finalist

Culinary students from the Taranaki region competed for their spot in the National Secondary Schools Culinary Competition (NSSCC) today, with Jamie Ung, from New Plymouth Boys High School taking the win. From here, Ung will go on to compete at the grand final in Auckland on September the 3rd. He will be going up with a fellow school mate to form a team of two for the final.

At the Taranaki event, Ung had to prepare, cook and plate, two individual portions of an entrée within 60 minutes. Ung’s dish was titled, Peas & Carrots, and was described as Carrot Jelly, Carrot and Parsnip Croquette with Crispy Filo, Pan roasted baby carrots, mustard and cream sauce with minted peas, garnished with baby watercress.
