With the launch of the SkyCity Summer Garden, Auckland's CBD has turned into a foodie's paradise to celebrate summer in the city.
Auckland’s midtown has had a fresh boost of culinary creation and imagination with the launch of the SkyCity Summer Garden, a three-month outdoor pop-up designed to draw people back into the city centre over the busy summer season.
The SkyCity Summer Garden will operate until 1 March 2026, and the activation has blended hospitality, entertainment and al fresco experiences for every visitor to enjoy, be it sweet or savoury, casual or formal.
Located at the base of the Sky Tower, the SkyCity Summer Garden has transformed Federal Street into an urban oasis featuring ice-cold cocktails, live DJs, classic ice creams, and Fed Deli favourites. It has been described as the perfect recipe for sunny afternoons, balmy evenings, and those spontaneous summer catchups.
David Allott, SkyCity’s General Manager of Hospitality, said the space was designed for the moments everyone talks about but rarely gets around to organising.
“Think after-work drinks with your work crew, date nights under the Tower, or simply sitting back under the Christmas lights of Federal Street,” said Allott.
“We wanted to create a space that captures everything we love about summer, from the easy-going energy, good music, and those spontaneous catch-ups that make the season special. SkyCity Summer Garden is all about bringing that backyard feeling to the city.”
To celebrate the launch of the activation, Moustache Cookies were on hand to supply visitors a free sweet treat while they explored the area.
With lush greenery, chilled beats and the Sky Tower as a backdrop, SkyCity Summer Garden is set to become the go-to spot for locals, visitors and families looking to relax, reconnect, and make the most of Auckland’s long summer days.
