Skrewball Enters NZ Market

Skrewball

Whilst flavoured liqueurs have circled the market for some time, Skrewball is the world’s first peanut butter whiskey-flavoured liqueur.

With a smooth, distinct flavour, Skrewball has balanced the complex tones of whiskey with the unique profiles of peanut butter. The result has been a sweet yet salty liqueur with a hint of caramel and subtle notes of vanilla.

Founder Steven Yeng said Skrewball’s finish is long and smooth, leaving a lingering taste of roasted peanuts and a gentle whiskey heat.

“This makes it a versatile and memorable spirit that appeals to a wide range of palates – whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in a creative cocktail.”

Yeng’s inspiration for Skrewball came from his childhood. Having moved from Cambodia to Thailand and eventually to the United States, peanut butter became what he affectionately called the “taste of freedom”.

He opened his own bar and restaurant in Ocean Beach, California, which encouraged him to experiment with peanut butter in various dishes and drinks. He eventually developed a peanut butter whiskey shot that quickly became a best-selling hit among customers. With the potential of the product in sight, Yeng and his wife Brittany created a standalone spirit.

Skrewball was officially launched in the United States in 2018, and quickly gained traction, achieving national distribution the following year.

In 2021, Skrewball celebrated a growth rate of 1,976 percent in the consumer retail market and over a million cases sold in the first three years alone.

For the future, Yeng has big plans for the next phase of Skrewball, including global expansion. Yeng said it’s recent launch in the New Zealand market was nothing short of Amazing.

“Kiwis have welcomed us with open arms, and we’re thrilled to keep that momentum going strong. We’re committed to growing our presence in New Zealand and forging strong connections with our fans there.”

According to Yeng, Skrewball’s success has been partially due to how it has pushed the boundaries and created unforgettable experiences.

“We can’t wait to share more about our upcoming adventures and how we’re spreading our love for embracing individuality and celebrating diverse flavours across the globe.”

Yeng added that introducing Skreball into international markets hasn’t only been about expanding globally, but it has also been about sharing the passion for embracing individuality, celebrating diverse flavours, and uniting people in unexpected ways.
