The Restaurant Association has to announced the launch of its Engaging Rangatahi initiative. The programme is dedicated to ensuring a thriving and diverse hospitality industry while building a prosperous future for the next generation of hospitality professionals.
Restaursnt Association CEO, Marisa Bidois, said that in today's rapidly evolving world, involving rangatahi (youth) in the conversation is more crucial than ever.
“The Association recognises the need to provide the tools and resources that will make learning about the industry accessible, engaging, inspiring, and challenging for young minds. This strategic approach is a vital component of attracting new talent into our workforce and ensuring the long-term success of a flourishing and inclusive industry,” said Bidois.
The Engaging Rangatahi initiative reflects the Association's commitment to nurturing the future leaders of the hospitality sector. By connecting with those who represent the industry's future, including individuals with visionary ideas and a strong drive to contribute to the industry's growth, we aim to collectively create a brighter future for everyone involved.
To bring the Rangatahi initiative to life, The Restaurant Association has outlined a comprehensive plan that includes the formation of the Rangatahi Leadership Group, comprised of young industry professionals, to ensure there is a strong regional youth-focused approach to highlighting the hospitality industry as a viable career option.
The goal of the Leadership Group will be to assist in the development of engaging formats to connect with rangatahi. The group will also create pathways to leadership, entrepreneurship, and mentoring within the industry, as well as to celebrate rangatahi achievements within the industry and opportunities for recognition.
Nominations and self-nominations are now open for the role of Chairperson and members of the Rangatahi Leadership Group.
“The Chairperson will play a pivotal role in running meetings, coordinating ideas, and collaborating with the Restaurant Association's executive team to achieve the charter's objectives. We are seeking self-motivated individuals who are passionate about the industry and eager to contribute to the organization and empowerment of the next generation of hospitality professionals,” continued Bidois.
By fostering an environment where young talents are encouraged and supported, the Restaurant Association's Engaging Rangatahi initiative aims to ensure there is a pathway for easing the skills shortage and create platforms for ensuring a dynamic future for the hospitality industry.
