New Zealanders want more healthy eating promotion

In a research project conducted around meal delivery kit users by Canstar Blue, 87 percent of Kiwis believe that more action should be taken to promote healthy eating. On top of that, 85 percent of respondents thought that GST should be removed from fresh produce.

The consensus was that meals need to be convenient, healthy, and sustainable. The issue of cost was often outweighed if the factors mentioned above were of a satisfactory level. Jose George, General Manager of Canstar Blue NZ, said, “In addition to convenience, respondents highlighted freshness of ingredients, the opportunity to try new, and potentially healthier products as well as a reduction in the amount of food they throw away as key benefits to purchasing meal delivery kits.”

Although the study showed that the number of people that have purchased meal kits in the last year has increased, with an influx of competition both locally and internationally, there could be an adverse effect on the price in the future.
