New Torbay Location for Burger Burger

Burger Burger, the iconic Kiwi burger destination that began with the perfect beef and cheese, and a tiny 40-seater restaurant, is expanding its hospitality to two new locations, marking its seventh and eighth establishments. Steering this journey is restaurateur, Mimi Gilmour Buckley, one of the masterminds who brought this gastronomic vision to life back in 2014. Her unwavering mission is to serve up honest, mouth-watering food, and delicious drinks made with top-notch local ingredients. She said that the team were elated to expand the community.

"At its heart, Burger Burger remains committed to the simple yet profound ethos of creating spaces where people can relish delicious food, celebrate life and create everyday memories with the ones they love most. Good old-fashioned hospitality at its best," said Gilmour Buckley.

First on the lineup is Burger Burger Torbay, nestled on the serene shores of Waiake Beach Reserve. This 100-square-metre space has housed a bakery, formal dining restaurant, and even a Mövenpick in the past. The renovated space has now opened to fit 120 diners. Gilmour Buckley has injected her signature retro, vibrant charm into the decor with vintage-inspired posters, neon lights, comfy booths and custom artwork by Hayley Brown, celebrating local treasures and the magic of great hospitality. The breathtaking ocean views of Waiake Beach Reserve are the pièce de résistance, and are just a stone's throw away.

To celebrate the inaugural beachfront spot, Burger Burger has unveiled plans for its 'Tuckshop by Burger Burger', designed to be a local snack sanctuary. Picture offerings from some of New Zealand’s most celebrated artisans, including Supreme Coffee, Wild Wheat pastries, Bowl and Arrow smoothies, Two Islands sodas, Fix and Fogg toasts, and more. Exclusive to Torbay, 'Tuckshop by Burger Burger' is a one-stop shop for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

The second location, Burger Burger Hamilton, has been requested by locals for nearly ten years. The 100-square-metre location is in the emerging urban hub, MADE, in Hamilton East. This is Burger Burger's first foray into the Waikato Region. It has room for 75 guests, signature neon art, vibrant pops of colour, and a dash of vintage vibes, all complemented by river views and a sun-soaked shared deck for any overflow.

Both locales will serve the beloved Burger Burger menu that has won hearts nationwide. The menu will include classic burgers, featuring beef, chicken, fish, or veggie options, paired with sides like their famed charred broccoli. In recent years, the menu has expanded to include salads, lighter alternatives and a generous kids menu, ensuring there's something for every palate.  A range of new beverages will include ice-cold beers from Burger Burger's long-time partner, Sawmill, as well as bespoke cocktails, non-alcoholic artisan sodas, and milkshakes.

The Hamilton East location will open later in the year.
