Burger King and Popeyes have each announced a new Head Chef, promoting existing top talent within Restaurant Brands International (RBI).
Amy Alarcon has been appointed Head Chef for Burger King, U.S. and Canada, following 18 years as a culinary leader and Head Chef at Popeyes. Amy previously led Popeyes’ success in shaping the brand’s culinary identity and driving category-defining menu innovation, including the iconic Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.
In her new role, Chef Amy will lead the Burger King culinary strategy, including menu innovation, product development, and quality standards across the brand. She will report to Joel Yashinsky, Chief Marketing Officer at Burger King, strengthening the connection between culinary innovation, brand strategy, and long-term growth priorities.
“Chef Amy is one of the best and most highly respected culinary leaders in our industry,” said Yashinsky.
“She joins Burger King at an exciting moment in our journey as we elevate food quality, taste, and our overall culinary excellence.”
Robert (Bobby) O’Brien has been appointed Head Chef for Popeyes, U.S. & Canada, following 17 years as a culinary leader within Popeyes. Working directly under Chef Amy, Chef Bobby was instrumental in shaping the brand’s menu strategy, elevating product quality, and ensuring the brand’s Louisiana flavours and culinary traditions remain front and centre.
“Chef Bobby is a proven culinary expert and trusted brand leader who deeply understands what makes Popeyes unique and special,” said Bart LaCount, Chief Marketing Officer at Popeyes.
“He has had a strong influence on the menu we are proud of today, and his commitment to excellence makes him the right successor to continue our brand’s focus on craveable, Louisiana flavours and iconic chicken.”
In a statement, Restaurant Brands said both of these promotions highlight the depth of talent across the RBI system and the ability to deploy exceptional leaders where they can have the greatest impact for its restaurant brands.
