Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Returns for 2024

Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat

Entries are now open for the 2024 Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Competition, which has supported emerging culinary talent and offered the next generation of chefs a platform like no other. For nearly six decades, the Nestlé Golden Chef's Hat Competition has proudly supported more than 7,500 chefs to advance their culinary careers across Australia and New Zealand.

The 2024 programme is open to both New Zealand and Australian apprentice or junior chefs aged from 16 and under 25 years on the 31st of December 2024. All entrants must be currently or recently employed (within the past 12 months) in the culinary industry, or have studied a course relevant to the culinary industry full-time

Online entry closes on the 6th of May, with Roud Two Regional and Metro cook offs occurring between May and July. The grand final cook-offs are scheduled to take place in early September, and will involve the top 12 winning chefs from across New Zealand and Australia. The grand final cook offs will be held at Fine Food Australia in Melbourne.

Finalists need to be available from 31st of August until the 4th of September 2024. Reasonable travel costs, including accommodation, will be provided.

Each participant is allowed 60 minutes to set up their allocated workstation before a two-and-a-half hour window to prepare and present two covers of a main and dessert dish.

Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Competition is a unique experience that has encouraged young chefs to elevate their culinary standards and push themselves higher. Two young New Zealand chefs - Lilly Boles and Joosje Bouman – were each awarded triple bronze medals during the 2023 grand-final.
