Miss Lucy’s Turns Up the Heat

LyLo Auckland has introduced a new food & beverage team to dish out the good times at its signature restaurant, Miss Lucy's.

Miss Lucy’s Auckland has turned up the heat with exciting new additions to its food and beverage team, who are already delivering bold flavours and good vibes.

Behind the burners and the bar, two big personalities have landed - DeMoss Stumbo and Kayla Teixeira. To kick things off, they’re serving up fresh ideas with a delicious limited-edition burger, The Western Eddy, hitting Miss Lucy’s menu just in time for International Burger Day.

Inspired by the cult-favourite secret menu at California’s iconic In-N-Out, this burger brings the heat and heart of the Wild West straight to your plate. The Western Eddy pays homage to Nashville legend Eddy Arnold, a favourite of new Senior Head Chef Stumbo, and the rugged charm of Montana, where Stumbo and Teixeira, the new Food & Beverage Manager, began their friendship.

Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Stumbo is a country boy with a love for cooking and bold Southern flavours, who loves meeting new people and is also a keen fisherman.

“I’ve been a chef for more than a decade, and I still love every second of it,” Stumbo said.

“For me, it’s always been about sharing amazing food with even better people. Outside of the kitchen, I love to roam nature for the best fishing hole, drinking ice cold beer, and beating everyone at pool. I’ve always had an itch to travel, and I’m over the moon to bring my passions to LyLo Auckland.”

Teixeira brings 10 years of hospitality experience from Palm Beach, Florida, where the melting pot of many cultures inspired her to travel the world.

"I’ve been a beautician, bartender and now a mixologist,” said Teixeira.

“I have a passion for cooking, science, eating for health/medicine, and winning a good darts game.

Teixeira has swapped the Florida sun for our shores and is stoked to call New Zealand home.

“I’ve wanted to move to New Zealand since primary school. My Grandma Lucy (yes, really!) always encouraged me to go for it. So now I’m here, doing what Grandma Lucy would do, which is mixing great food and drinks with great people.”

LyLo Auckland and Miss Lucy’s General Manager Sheldon Tawhai said this new duo captures everything LyLo stands for.

“Stumbo and Teixeira know how to serve up the good stuff! From hearty breakfasts to woodfired bites, washed down by top local brews, they’re here to make Miss Lucy’s your first pick for a feed, no matter the occasion. They get the Miss Lucy’s vibe of no fuss, great times, great people and shared tables with food and drink, and we know the limited-edition Western Eddy burger with its international flair is going to hit the spot tomorrow.”
