Milestone for Iconic Australian Chain

One of Australia’s leading specialty coffee retailers, Zarraffa’s Coffee, is set to open its 75th store and the eighth store within the Sunshine Coast region.

Zarraffa’s Coffee Nambour officially opened its doors on Monday, 20 November, offering a drive-thru for quick and convenient service during busy periods and inside or outside seating for up to 44 people. The new location will be operated by Terry Bambury and James Burgess-Liehr, along with seasoned franchisee Ben Old, who collectively have over 60 years of experience with the Zarraffa brand.

The Zarraffa’s Coffee Nambour store will be the very first store co-owned by Burgess-Liehr after an impressive 23 years managing and working across several roles within Zarraffa’s Coffee, from a Junior Barista on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, through to Area Manager of stores.

“It’s been an incredible trajectory for Burgess-Liehr and so rewarding to see one of our longest-serving employees finally realise his dream of store ownership,” said Zarraffa’s CEO, Marnie Sheldon.

“A huge part of our company success is the consistent reinvestment of our franchisees into new stores, and now we  get to celebrate another level of achievement by Burgess-Liehr, who brings a wealth of experience to the table.”

Burgess-Liehr said that transitioning to a Zarraffa’s Coffee store owner had been a long time coming and that after over two decades with Zarraffa’s Coffee, it was the perfect time to do it for himself.

“As a local resident, I am looking forward to doing the school run each day and then heading to our new store without leaving town, and we can’t wait to get involved in supporting our local community, our schools and clubs in  the area.”

The new store is located on the thoroughfare of Bli Bli Road, Nambour, servicing the bustling area and surrounds, including the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

“We have a very loyal following that has been making the commute from Nambour and the surrounding hinterland  suburbs to the coastal stores to get their Zarraffa’s fix, and now, we are so happy to be able to reduce their travel  times, with local, barista-made coffee, right on their doorstep.”

In addition to providing an exceptional coffee experience, the Nambour store will also offer an assortment of baked savouries, sweets, and snacks, making it the ideal stop for a quick bite or a leisurely coffee break.

“Zarraffa’s is very much a family business and offers the kind of support that you would expect from family, too. They are always at the end of the phone or right with you when needed, day or night. Our customers are one of a kind too, and we really work hard to connect with our locals. We still have customers coming to us 20 years down the track, with their children now having kids of their own. It's amazing and very  humbling.”

This new addition to the Zarraffa’s Coffee group further strengthens the brand’s presence in the region and reinforces its commitment to delivering exceptional coffee experiences.

“It’s fitting that we are celebrating the 75th store milestone opening in Nambour,” said Sheldon.

“James, Ben and Terry have been a part of the Zarraffa’s family for almost two decades each and their ongoing investment and drive to open new stores means that they are ideal franchise owners to spearhead new growth in  the region.”

Burgess-Liehr said that in addition to serving exceptional coffee, Zarraffa’s Coffee Nambour is committed to contributing to the local community by providing employment opportunities. The store will be staffed by a team of approximately 25 passionate locals who share a love for coffee and a dedication to delivering outstanding service.
