Edward Johnson has joined the True South Dining Room at The Rees Hotel in Queenstown as the new restaurant manager.
Johnson has an extensive history in hospitality, coming from a Michelin-rated restaurant in the U.K., and then back to New Zealand in 2017. During his time at the Hotel St Moritz in Queenstown, Johnson was awarded Accor Employee of the Year.
“This is the ultimate for me—it’s where I can channel my passion for producing once-in-a-lifetime experiences. True South is certainly one of those places where you can make the memory of a meal last forever,” said Johnson. Not only is Johnson praised for his excellent customer service, but he is also prolific behind the bar. In the past, he has been known to utilise locally sourced ingredients, something that he hopes to build upon at True South. “Now I’m relishing being part of a team in an environment where the focus is on all-around excellence and using local ingredients that are ethically sourced.”
