In order to train and develop future leaders of the hospitality sector, the Restaurant Association has announced Leadership Development Days.

The Restaurant Association has introduced its Leadership Development Days, a series of immersive and transformative full-day training sessions designed to enhance leadership skills within the hospitality industry.

This initiative will feature two of New Zealand’s foremost experts: Krishna Botica, a highly acclaimed restaurateur known for her significant contributions to the restaurant scene, and Marg Main, a renowned hospitality trainer with extensive experience in developing and coaching industry professionals.

These sessions are crafted to provide valuable insights, practical skills, and networking opportunities for both new and seasoned managers in the sector.

“The Leadership Development Days were developed in response to member feedback emphasising the need for industry-led, tailored leadership training,” said Marisa Bidois, CEO of the Restaurant Association.

“This initiative reflects the hospitality industry’s commitment to growing and developing leadership teams with the ultimate goal of retaining well-trained professionals for the long-term benefit of the sector. By providing hands-on, interactive training, these sessions are designed to address the unique challenges faced by hospitality leaders and support their continued growth and success within the industry.”

Event highlights will include event workshops where participants will engage in practical sessions focused on developing leadership and team management skills, specifically tailored to the hospitality industry. Attendees will also gain valuable knowledge and actionable tips from Krishna Botica and Marg Main, as well as a platform for participants to connect with fellow hospitality professionals, share experiences, and build valuable relationships.

The event has also been designed for new managers and those stepping into a leadership role to acquire the tools and confidence needed to excel. Experienced managers will also have the opportunity to hone and refine their leadership skills, staying ahead in a dynamic industry.

The Leadership Development Days will be held in Auckland on the 3rd of September, Christchurch on the 16th of September, and Wellington on the 17th of September. Each session will run from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, and lunch will be included.
