Lake Chalice has been awarded a prestigious trophy at the Global Fine Wine Challenge for its Plume Sauvignon Blanc 2024.
Lake Chalice wines are delighted to announce that the Plume Sauvignon Blanc 2024 has been awarded Champion Sauvignon Blanc at the 2025 Global Fine Wine Challenge.
Exclusive to the nations of the new world, this challenge is accessible by invitation only and is restricted to the top 120 wines of each country competing: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA, as defined by top wine authorities in each country.
Winemaker Chloe Gabrielsen said it was a privilege to be invited to enter the show, and to receive the trophy was a true delight. “Each of the New Zealand wines entered were selected by Jane Skilton MW, and to have three of our wines picked was an honour in itself. Then to have the Sauvignon Blanc recognised with a trophy was hugely gratifying.”
“We work hard to craft this wine, leaving fruit on the vine longer than normal to promote bold flavour concentration and then using minimal intervention throughout the winemaking process. To receive accolades like this is a testament to the meticulous work we put in.” Chloe Gabrielsen, Head Winemaker.
This is the second trophy awarded to Lake Chalice from the Global Fine Wine Challenge, with the Plume Chardonnay 2020 awarded Champion Chardonnay and White Wine of Show in the 2023 competition.
2025 continues to be a great year for Lake Chalice, with this latest trophy being the second awarded from an internationally renowned competition. The Plume Pinot Noir 2019 was awarded Wine of Show at the Sommelier Wine Awards in London earlier on in the year, another great recognition for Chloe and the wider winemaking team.
Other wines entered into this year’s Global Fine Wine Challenge by Lake Chalice were the Plume Chardonnay 2022 and the Plume Pinot Noir 2019, with the Plume Chardonnay being awarded a gold medal. Lake Chalice would like to take the opportunity to thank the judging panel and the team of organisers behind the Global Fine Wine Challenge and congratulate all other wineries involved.
