Inspiring the Future with a Junior Chef Competition

Daniel Lee, head chef at Norris & Bell in Tauranga wanted to utilise the restaurant’s kitchen during the daytime, outside service hours while doing something for the community. With school holidays on the horizon, Lee had a bright idea, why not bring kids and families together through a junior chef competition.

“Luckily Moh and Billy (Mohinder Sawroop and Billy Emeny – Norris & Bell’s owners) agreed!” Expressed Lee.

“It was just something I really wanted to do, who knows, maybe I can build more future Kiwi chefs here in New Zealand!”

To enter, young chefs must be aged between 8-13 years old and post a dish and explanation on social media with the tag @norrisandbell. 12 Candidates will then be picked to show off their skills in the Norris & Bell kitchen. The competition will then be cut down to the final three with the winner’s dish added to Norris & Bell’s Saturday’s Special Menu.

The winner will also receive a chef’s knife with their name engraved, a $100 Prezzy card, a $100 Norris & Bell voucher and a $100 CBK Tauranga voucher.
