The 2021 Inspire+ NZ Artisan Awards has received another overwhelming amount of entries, with contestants battling it out for their share of the $50,000 prize.
While COVID-19 was a huge disruption to businesses around the country, the pandemic also offered the opportunity for business owners to pivot, rethink, and get innovative. In Auckland alone, a total of 983 new food businesses registered with either the Auckland Council or the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) in the Auckland region during 2020.
This spur of innovation has been reflected with a record 900+ entries this year, showcasing the depth and breadth of New Zealand’s best locally made products.
Entries have covered the full range of Food and Beverage categories; from alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, dry goods, frozen goods, chilled/deli, and general merchandise. The latest trends and consumer demands have been showcased, along with some truly inspiring innovations in both product and packaging.
This year, sauces and spreads have come out swinging, which is exciting news for the Artisan Awards' newest sponsor, Wendy's NZ.
“We are thrilled to be the 2021 sponsor for the sauce category of the 2021 Inspire+ NZ Artisan Awards,” expressed Danielle Lendich, CEO Wendy’s NZ.
“These awards are a great opportunity for artisan brands to show off their innovative products, we can’t wait to see what the sauce producers have come up with.”
Entries have now closed and judges are in full swing analysing each product based on its degree of innovation, fit for purpose, visual appeal, taste, price point, and shelf-life.
The competition is fierce and all entrants should be proud of their efforts in bringing the best artisanal products to the New Zealand consumer.
Finalists will be announced in late August.
