HONEST GOODS

Honest Goods was created by friendly couple Seth and Megan, who are passionate about all things that nourish the mind, body and soul. The purpose of Honest Goods is to do good by making healthy products which are tasty and effective, whilst supporting local growers, and with the smallest possible waste outcome.

What is your company background, how did you start the business?

We had been experiencing the benefits of apple cider vinegar for years and when we heard about herbal infused vinegar, it sounded incredible so we made up a batch to give it a whirl for ourselves.

We loved it and soon we were sharing it with friends and family, luckily they loved it too. We played around with a bunch of different ingredients and made numerous batches before perfecting our tonics which we call Ahi Cider.

Ahi Cider translates to Fire Cider and it based on a gut loving and immune supporting brew that packs a serious health punch. Tangy, spicy and pungent, Ahi Cider is super versatile and can be taken neat as a wellness shot, added to juices, smoothies, sparkling water or mixed with a little honey and lemon then stirred into a warm glass of water to be served as a hot toddy.

It makes a fantastic, tangy salad dressing when mixed with olive oil and is a great addition in hummus or guacamole. A teaspoonful goes a long way due to the strong flavour so a bottle can last around 6 weeks.

What is the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market?

All our Ahi Cider tonics are handmade in small batches in beautiful Tauranga. All our tonics are created with a raw organic NZ apple cider vinegar base before adding fresh onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, chillies, peppercorns and horseradish.

Our brews steep for 4-8 weeks before we strain and bottle them all up. We currently have 3 Ahi Cider tonics and these come in either a 300ml bottle or a 100ml bottle which we call our Ahi Cider Tiki Tonics.

We have 3 varieties of Ahi Cider which include our Original brew, Kawakawa brew (additional wildcraft NZ kawakawa) and Immune brew (additional Echinacea root, lemons and oranges).  All our Ahi Ciders are gluten free, vegan friendly, raw, paleo and cruelty free.

We only ever use fresh ingredients and are proudly 100% kiwi owned and operated.

Has there been any recent company news?

We celebrated our first year of business in September last year which was an exciting day for us.

What are the plans for the business moving forward, is there any expansion on the horizon?

We are working on developing another product but are still in the very early stages. Fingers crossed it will be ready later this year.

Where are your products currently available to buy, and are you looking at or wanting to expand your availability? If so, where would you like to see the product situated?

We are stocked in various health food stores, cafes and gyms around the North and South Islands and these are all listed on our website. We are actively seeking more stockists around New Zealand (particularly Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) and would love to see our products available in Australia by mid 2021.
