Four culinary students from the Taranaki region have competed for their spot in the National Secondary Schools Culinary Competition (NSSCC) grand final. The NSSCC grand final will be held in Auckland on the 8th of September.
Josh Ace from New Plymouth Boys’ High School was crowned the regional winner for Taranaki. From here, each regional winner will collaborate with a fellow schoolmate to form a team of two and compete in the grand final.
Josh turned up the heat in the kitchen, having to prepare, cook and plate, two individually plated portions of an entrée course within 60 minutes. The judges’ commented on the great flavours of the dish, great presentation, perfectly al denté.
Other competitors in the competition included Samantha Yelseth from Hawera High School, Jayden Bullock from Whanganui High School and Eddy Li from New Plymouth Boys’ High School.
