FROM ARCHITECT TO DESSERT-MAKER

A former architect and 3D visualiser has taken Instagram by storm with her geometric desserts. Dinara Kasko, from the Ukraine, discovered after experimenting in her kitchen that pastry was her true calling, and has carried over techniques from the design world into her food.

"In my case, I’m trying to connect architecture, design and patisserie,” she said. “A beautiful cake, as well as a beautiful building, needs preliminary design. It’s necessary to work with the form, volume, composition, proportion, colour and texture correctly. The right combination of all these factors will let us create a well-balanced cake and a well-balanced building."

There is a detailed process for each of her creations. She designs moulds in 3DMAX before 3D printing the model and casting a mould out of silicon.
