Food delivery service Deliveroo has opened a delivery-only kitchen in the heart of Melbourne. The restaurant will host chefs from a variety of local restaurants and cafes, who will cook food which will then be sent out through Deliveroo. Kong, DiDi Dumpling, Yubi, 8Bit, Up in Smoke and Messina have all signed up to take part.
Previous delivery-only outlets, known as ‘Deliveroo Editions’, in the UK and Singapore have increased Deliveroo revenue in the area has increased up to five times. The company is aiming to have 200 Deliveroo Editions running by Christmas, with 70 of them in Australia by the end of next year.
"We believe in an exchange program where Deliveroo restaurants get an opportunity to sell their food in different markets," said Deliveroo founder and CEO Will Shu. "You have some incredible brands here that we can take abroad.”
