CHEF’S AWARD GOES VIRTUAL

A prestigious culinary award is set to go virtual this year so that it can continue during these challenging COVID-19 times.

The Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award is taking its competition online.

Organisers of the event announced earlier this year that the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award, which is celebrating 55 years in Australia, would be opened up for the first time to include competitors from New Zealand.

The continuation of the event in a reimagined format comes at a time when the impacts of the current global situation are being felt closely by the hospitality industry.

Chefs will now enter as an individual instead of a two-person team by completing an online application. Confirmed entrants will then be invited to submit a video entry, presenting a plated dish of their choice that best showcases their skills and personality as a chef.

Twelve regional winning chefs from across Australia and New Zealand will be selected to go onto compete in the grand finals later this year.

The competitor who is judged to be Chef of the Year will receive a generous cash prize of AUD$10k to support their culinary career. Additional category prizes have also been included this year.

Registrations open from 4 May at enter.nestle-goldenchefs.com.au

To be eligible to enter, competitors must be apprentice and junior chefs aged between 16 and 25 years old as at 30 September 2020. They must also be working in the culinary industry (chef, cook, apprentice, culinary student) and be Australian or New Zealand residents.
