Acclaimed Auckland restaurant, Cassia, has announced it is on the move and will leave its current SkyCity location.
Award-winning modern Indian restaurant Cassia is on the move once again, announcing plans to relocate from its current home within the SkyCity Auckland dining precinct this winter.
Cassia SkyCity will close its doors following dinner service on Friday, June 5, with a new chapter, Cassia v3, set to open in Auckland’s CBD this August. The restaurant’s new home will be a previously unoccupied corner site owned and managed by Pro-invest Group at Albert and Wyndham Streets, beside the voco Auckland City Centre.
Restaurateurs Sid Sahrawat and Chand Sahrawat relocated Cassia to SkyCity in 2023 after their Fort Lane premises were forced to close due to the January 2023 Anniversary Weekend floods. Since then, the restaurant has continued to deliver its signature refined, contemporary take on Indian cuisine from within the SkyCity dining precinct, retaining its 2 hats in the Cuisine Good Food Guide in 2025.
Now, after almost three years at SkyCity, the time has come to establish a permanent, standalone home.
“We are so grateful to the SkyCity team for welcoming us into the fold and giving us a home over the past three years,” said Sahrawat.
“Now it’s time for us to make our final move. We’re thrilled to remain in the CBD and close to our loyal guests who have supported Cassia since we first opened in 2014.”

Cassia’s final service at SkyCity will be dinner on Friday, June 5th. Until then, guests can enjoy the current summer menu alongside popular initiatives such as Biriyani Thursdays.
Gift vouchers purchased for use at SkyCity will remain valid for use at Cassia until June 5 and can be used at any SkyCity venue beyond this date based on the expiry date on the voucher.
Further details about Cassia’s move, including opening dates and booking information, will be announced in the coming months.
