New Zealand’s favourite locally made flavoured whisky is now available in a bold new flavour, with ThunderDonk launching its Campfire Coffee expression.
This new release pairs rich Colombian coffee beans with toasted coconut flakes and aged New Zealand single malt whisky. The launch comes as flavoured whisky continues to explode in popularity. It is the fastest-growing segment of the global whisky market, growing 50 percent faster than traditional whisky.
"It's a combination few would expect, whisky and coffee, but that's precisely the point. ThunderDonk is a bold, rebellious, flavoured whisky, and it's one that consumers have really embraced," said Mark Neal, Marketing Director at ThunderDonk.
"Campfire Coffee is built for those late nights swapping stories and stirring up banter around the fire. This is the evolution of the brand and offers a bold and smooth coffee-led flavour, making it perfect for cocktails, as a chilled shot, or simply enjoyed neat."
Fronting the campaign are two new characters, a Yeti and his flatmate, a stockman from the Central Otago high country. Best mates and unlikely housemates, the pair embody everything ThunderDonk stands for: good company, tall banter, and late nights around the campfire.
ThunderDonk has been crafted by Scapegrace Distilling and was released in New Zealand in 2025. Existing flavours Spiced Maple and Salted Caramel have been a hit with consumers, with more than 5000 cases sold across New Zealand and Australia in the past 12 months.
The brand has already won two major international whisky awards and is seeing success in Australia, recently securing a major deal with liquor retailer Dan Murphy’s.
