The Hunting Lodge is excited to announce Tennessee Red, the highly anticipated Project X mash-up is finally here. Tennessee Red is a complex Merlot Malbec blend, first aged in French Oak and then in Bourbon barrels.
“Think Bordeaux chic with char-grilled Southern flavour,” said Chief Winemaker, Pete Turner.
Like their previous dabble with bourbon barrels, Chardy Jack (which sold out in a matter of weeks) this latest release was also encouraged by Liberty Brewery who gave The Hunting Lodge a few bourbon barrels to put some red wine into and see what happened.
The result is nothing short of delicious. Loaded with blueberry pie, cassis and caramel characters with a sprinkling of vanilla and coconut. Warm, inviting and structured, a char-grilled, smoky undertone adds further interest. Rich and concentrated, double-oaked Hawkes Bay Merlot Malbec made with flag-waving assertiveness but retaining that classic je ne sais quois. A cross-cultural icon in the making.
Supersized. Doused in French oak and then matured in Bourbon Barrels straight from the Distillery, Tennessee Red is loud, proud and packed with flavour, fist pumps and high fives.
