US-based Mexican chain Chipotle has introduced a new AI-powered food reordering service. The reordering is a skill, which functions like an application, in Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa. The scheme will allow customers to reorder their favourite meals by simply saying; “Alexa, tell Chipotle to reorder my favourite for delivery.” The voice automation also gives customers the option to pay ahead and the ability to skip the line and go straight to the digital pickup shelves or collect the order through Chipotle’s drive-through.
“We always strive to introduce additional access points in the Chipotle ordering experience and overall digital ecosystem,” said Nicole West, vice president of Digital Strategy and Product Management at Chipotle. “With this new skill for Alexa, our customers can get their favourite Chipotle orders delivered straight to their door in the most convenient way possible – all they need to do is ask.”
Chipotle has implemented the new AI-powered voice assistants across all 2,500 restaurants. The system seeks to reduce the friction in restaurants by providing customers with a streamlined and effortless ordering process, allowing employees to focus on strengthening the guests’ experience.
