Wendy's is putting up its duke's and hitting Dunkin Donuts hard in its latest marketing campaign.
The international burger chain, which introduced breakfast last year, is popping up a restaurant in Providence, R.I., roughly 50km's from Dunkin's Canton, Mass., headquarters, where it will give customers free food and host a contest for 'free breakfast for a year.'
The 'DitchTheDonut' competition will be held on Instagram, @DitchTheDonutSweeps, through to mid-August. Customers who comment during the competition duration enter to win free Wendy's breakfast for a year.
The pop-up restaurant will open in Kennedy Plaza where from 7am to 11am customers can exchange donuts for Wendy's breakfast.
Wendy's is also introducing two breakfast sandwiches, including a Sausage, Egg and Swiss Croissant, Bacon, Egg and Swiss Croissant or Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit.
Most of Wendy's focus has been on McDonald's, but branching out into the breakfast market allows Wendy's to take on the coffee-and-doughnut chain.
