Winter is getting a bad wrap at the moment, but for those who aren’t deterred by the cold, there is some pretty cool stuff happening in Auckland and Wellington during these nippy months.
From now until the end of September, Wellington’s hidden cocktail hangout Concrete Bar is hosting the Glenlivet Concrete Jungle – a private greenhouse perched on Lambton Quay, camouflaged amongst an oasis of luscious greenery.
Guests will enjoy a cocktail upon arrival before digging into a veritable feast of whipped garlic and olive tapenade, baked camembert, chutney, and mains of calamari, charred coconut cauliflower, fried chicken and beef kebabs. On offer are also four specially crafted cocktails including Ultimate Old Fashioned, The Glenlivet Royale, Packs a Peach or a Hot & Lively. After this display of aperitifs, diners can top it all off with cinnamon sugar donut bites, cheesecake bites and salted caramel sauce.
Auckland’s Dr Rudi’s is also hosting a winter special until September. Guests can enjoy two hours of cocktails, platters, and natters in its Winter Wonderland Igloos. A delicious selection of cold cuts, olives, cheese, chutney, and crackers are available upon arrival, followed by a delightful dessert of creamy vanilla bean ice cream with your choice of yummy sauces.
