Acclaimed winery Tread Softly has introduced a distinct local New Zealand flavour to its two latest varietals to hit New Zealand shelves.

Sustainable wine brand Tread Softly introduces two local varietals to shelves across New Zealand. Renowned for producing wines that highlight the freshness and vibrancy of their origin, Tread Softly carefully selects varietals best suited to each region, strengthening its commitment to sustainability while supporting local growers and communities.

“We're excited to share a selection of our wines from celebrated regions in New Zealand. The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and East Coast Pinot Gris both showcase the quality of New Zealand fruit made in alignment with our overarching winemaking philosophy of crafting fresh, moderate-alcohol wines, whilst also seeking to ensure our environmental footprint is minimised. By harvesting pristine fruit at optimal ripeness earlier in the season, Tread Softly creates wines that are beautifully balanced, and uniquely expressive at naturally lighter alcohol levels,” said Ross Marshall, Managing Director, Fourth Wave Wine.

The Tread Softly Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is grown in the cool climate of the Awatere Valley, where grapes are picked early to preserve a moderate alcohol level and then gently pressed to ensure vibrant fruit flavour. Pale green in colour, the wine has lifted snow pea, ripe lime and sea spray aromas, with a fresh, vibrant lightness and zest on the palate, offering a lighter twist, without compromising on flavour.

The Tread Softly East Coast Pinot Gris is crafted from grapes grown in the northern reaches of New Zealand’s East Coast, where early harvesting ensures the brand’s signature moderate alcohol style. Post-fermentation, the wine is rested on yeast lees for three months to build texture and structure. Pale straw in colour, it offers bright aromas of citrus lemon, green apple, and a hint of grapefruit. On the palate, it’s flinty and textured with a fleshy mouthfeel, an easy-drinking, highly enjoyable drop that’s perfect for any occasion.

Tread Softly also recently celebrated a major sustainability milestone: the planting of its 2.5 millionth native tree as part of its long-running reforestation partnership with Carbon Neutral. Since launching the initiative in 2019, the brand has committed to planting one tree for every case of wine sold, helping regenerate more than 1,200 hectares of native bushland in Western Australia's Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, one of the world’s global biodiversity hotspots.
