Iconic pizza restaurant Toto has been placed in liquidation owing more than $1.36 to employees. Famous for its metre-long pizzas, the store had been operating for 21 years with locations in the Auckland CBD and Manukau.

Toto was placed in liquidation at the start of this month, with creditors claiming $1,368,000 and employers owing $48,000 in wages and holiday pay to its employees.

In the liquidator's report, Meltzer and Lamacraft were "advised that a sale of business was in process prior to liquidation.”

“This potential transaction will be reviewed by the liquidators to establish the current position and how to proceed . . . The liquidators will examine the company's available books and records and conduct a brief review of the company's affairs."
