AUSTRALIA | A new chapter is being poured for one of Tassie’s most iconic beers, with Cascade Draught 3.5 percent now available on tap across the state.
The launch was celebrated at Hobart’s Cascade Brewery, where guests raised a glass to the official keg release.
Bringing the classic taste of Cascade Draught to drinkers looking to moderate their alcohol consumption, the mid-strength lager delivers the same crisp finish enjoyed in Tasmania for more than 60 years at just 1.2 standard drinks per schooner.
Cascade’s new mid-strength beer continues the brewery’s long-standing commitment to Tassie, following a recent AUD 13m investment to modernise the brewery’s operations. The launch also followed Cascade’s 200th anniversary celebrations in 2024 and the completion of a major restoration of the iconic brewery façade.
With sales of packaged Draught 3.5 percent flying across the state, its release on tap gives beer lovers more choice at the bar, whether they're catching up with mates or cheering on their favourite team.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said Cascade was a much-loved Tasmanian brand.
"Cascade is a treasured Tasmanian brand, and for good reason; its legacy and contribution to the history of Tassie is legendary," said Premier Rockliff.
"Cascade's continued investment to support local jobs should be celebrated, because it ensures Tasmanians for generations can continue to enjoy this locally-brewed beer.”
Cascade Brewery’s Head of Manufacturing Brendan Flanagan added that Cascade Draught 3.5 percent was created to give Tasmanians a mid-strength option that delivers the flavour and character people expect from the much-loved beer.
"When we spoke with publicans across Tasmania, one message kept coming through loud and clear: customers wanted a local mid-strength option they could order at the bar,” he said.
“Cascade Draught 3.5 percent is the answer. It's a beer born from feedback from our local pubs and their customers, giving Tasmanians a mid-strength option without sacrificing the taste and character that's made Cascade Draught a favourite for generations."
Cascade Draught 3.5 percent has arrived as beer drinkers have embraced moderation, with no, low and mid-strength options now accounting for more than 30 percent of beer sales.
This classic Australian lager with a hop aroma, balanced malt character, a crisp finish, and a familiar hint of bitterness is now available on tap across the state and in 30-packs of 375 ml cans from Tasmanian independent bottle shops, select pubs and at Hobart’s Cascade Brewery Bar.
