USA | Tacala Companies will broaden its portfolio of Taco Bell companies through a merger with 5610 Interstate Food Co.

Taco Bell franchisee Tacala Companies has officially joined 5610 Interstate Food Co., bringing Taco Bell to Austin residents through a new ghost kitchen which opened on August 4, 2025.

5610 Interstate Food Co., based in North Austin and operated by CloudKitchens, is a ghost kitchen concept offering delivery and takeout only, allowing guests to skip the dine-in and drive-thru lines. Orders can be placed through the Taco Bell mobile app, tacobell.com, or third-party delivery platforms like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub.

This marks Tacala's first ghost kitchen location, as the company continues to explore innovative store formats and expand its footprint.

"We're excited to join 5610 Interstate Food Co. with our first-ever ghost kitchen," said Laura Maravi, Vice President of Operations.

"This is a great way for us to better serve our mobile and delivery customers, while reaching more Taco Bell fans in North Austin more quickly. This location will also help improve the in-store and drive-thru experience at our nearby restaurants by shifting a percentage of delivery orders to the new ghost kitchen."

With the constant modernisation and competition within the restaurant industry, the CloudKitchens site will enable Tacala to achieve its goals without the investment in a traditional brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Based in Birmingham, AL, Tacala operates over 375 Taco Bell restaurants in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina, with a significant presence in each of its local markets employing over 9,000 customer enthusiasts committed to the mission "To Lift and Feed the Human Spirit through Great Food, Exceptional Value, Uncommon Kindness."

CloudKitchens is the owner and operator of over 400 delivery-optimised, multi-tenant, commercial food service facilities globally.  CloudKitchens operates under a core mission: better infrastructure for better food. From start-up restaurateurs to global restaurant and food brands, operators partner with CloudKitchens on efficient location growth, kitchen and design innovation, and optimised food delivery strategies.
