Scapegrace Distilling Co. has celebrated another major international win, with its Anthem Single Malt Whisky awarded Gold at the World Whiskies Awards 2026.

Anthem claimed Gold in the New Zealand Small Batch Single Malt category, earning top honours in one of the world’s most respected whisky competitions and reinforcing Scapegrace’s proud reputation on the global stage.

The World Whiskies Awards are regarded as the pinnacle of international whisky judging, with entries assessed by leading industry experts from around the world.

Scapegrace Co-Founder Mark Neal said the award is a proud moment for the team.

“This is another really exciting win for Anthem and for our distillery,” said Neal.

“To be recognised with Gold at the World Whiskies Awards is a huge honour and a testament to the skill, care and innovation that goes into our whisky.”

Neal said Anthem has been crafted as a uniquely New Zealand whisky.

“Anthem is distilled using locally grown barley, including our distinctive Manuka-smoked malt, cut with pristine glacial water and matured in the extreme Central Otago climate. Those conditions create real depth, balance and character in the whisky, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that recognised on the world stage.”

The latest accolade continues a strong run of international success for Scapegrace’s whisky portfolio, following multiple category and country wins at leading global spirits competitions in recent years.

Scapegrace Distilling Co is New Zealand’s largest independent spirits company, founded in 2014 by brothers-in-law Daniel McLaughlin and Mark Neal, alongside Richard Bourke.

Today, the Scapegrace brand is available in 43 markets worldwide, renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and innovative spirit that captures the adventurous essence of New Zealand. In addition to its award-winning Scapegrace portfolio, the company also produces distinctive brands under Rogue Society Liquor, including premium gin and vodka, as well as ThunderDonk - a bold, flavoured whisky.
