Rick Stein will head back down under with the opening of his latest restaurant, Rick Stein at Coogee Beach.
Internationally-renowned chef Rick Stein will make his mark on the shores of one of Sydney’s most famous beaches with the opening of his new 224-seat restaurant, Rick Stein at Coogee Beach.
The new restaurant, set to open in late November, will be Stein’s third in Australia. His previous endeavours include Mollymook on the southern coast of New South Wales, and Port Stephens on the mid-north coast. His wife, Sarah, is also involved in this new project.
Stein described Coogee Beach as yet another stunning coastal location for his Australian portfolio. He said there was an abundance of top-quality seafood in Australia, and he intended to champion local, seasonal produce with the best benefit of accessing the biggest fish market in the southern hemisphere.
On the menu, customers can look forward to mahi mahi and blue swimmer crab from Nelson Bay, Stockton pipis from Port Stephens and line-caught mackerel from Ulladulla.
“Perched by the sea and full of the laid-back charm we’ve come to love so much here. It’s especially meaningful for me as my wife, Sarah, grew up in Sydney, so opening a restaurant in her hometown makes this venture all the more special for us both,” said Stein.
Occupying a stunning beachfront location, the new restaurant will be inspired by Stein’s lifelong love of the ocean and the fresh, unfussy elegance of his kitchens. Rick Stein at Coogee Beach will offer refined beachside dining that showcases the best Australian regional and local produce across an array of experiences from casual to upmarket.
Rick and Sarah’s new venture is in collaboration with Australian partners Salter Brothers, who acquired Bannisters Group in 2024.
"We are very excited to be bringing Rick Stein to Coogee Beach and building on our existing partnership,” said Paul Salter, Managing Director of Salter Brothers.
“I can't think of a better location in Sydney to showcase his distinctive, yet approachable, fresh seafood experience".
