The Restaurant Association has announced the launch of the Te Tai Tokerau Roadshow, a series of informative seminars designed to introduce the Te Tupu Tahi programme in partnership with NorthTec, and to address crucial topics within the hospitality sector. The seminars will provide business owners with valuable insights and knowledge, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of the culinary world.
The Te Tai Tokerau Roadshow seminars will delve into several vital areas of interest. The Te Tupu Tahi Programme will be an introduction to the Restaurant Association and NorthTec Te Tupu Tahi cookery training programme, offering attendees an opportunity to understand its significance and benefits for their businesses and their staff. This will lead to a discussion about the importance of optimising workforce management, and how finding, retaining, and maximising employee potential is a crucial aspect of any successful business.
A comprehensive update on the progress of the Hospitality Fair Pay Agreement will be provided, allowing participants to stay informed about the latest developments and implications for the industry. There will also be an update on the latest policies surrounding work visas and immigration, and an opportunity to answer any questions attendees may have.
At the end of each session, there will be a chance for attendees to ask important questions during a ‘Q&A’ session.
Restaurant Association CEO, Marisa Bidois, said that the association has looked forward to connecting with businesses throughout the region during the seminars to bring them up to date on important industry developments.
“These workshops promise to be insightful and engaging sessions, offering a platform for business owners in the region to gain valuable knowledge, network with peers, and equip themselves for success,” said Bidois.
The Te Tupu Tahi training programme was launched this year after recognising a need to grow and develop the hospitality industry in Te Tai Tokerau. The training programme has comprised workplace-based training and online learning. It will provide junior chefs working in professional kitchens or those interested in becoming chefs an opportunity to receive a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level Three and Level Four.
The Te Tai Tokerau Roadshow seminars are scheduled to take place at the Peekaboo Backyard Eatery in Kaitaia on the 2nd of October, 2023, Greens Thai Cuisine in Paihia on and NorthTec Te Pukenga Apprentice Restaurant in Whangarei, both on the 3rd of October, 2023.
