Since 2018 Lazy Susan, a Facebook community group has been sharing hot tips about the Auckland food scene with its dedicated 7500+ following.
Moderators Antony Suvalko and Anna King Shahab started the page as a place to share genuine knowledge, but also to celebrate the diversity of Auckland's food offerings. Taking that purpose one step further, the pair is now pulling together a dedicated recipe book so customers can recreate top local dishes at home.
'Auckland Eats: Recipes and Voices from a Vibrant Food City' was an idea that formed when the group started to take off in numbers, however, it was paused when the COVID-19 pandemic kicked off. Now back on the table, the recipe book is all about highlighting cult dishes that are intrinsic to the city from all manner of cuisines and styles of eatery, as well as telling some of the stories behind those dishes and the people who make them.
More than 40 recipes will feature in the book. A selection of those currently confirmed include: Eden Noodles' dumplings in spicy sauce, Satya's chicken 65, Coco's Cantina's polenta fries, Ramen Takara's tan tan ramen, Cassia's Goan lamb chops, Apero's roasted cauliflower, One8Tea's pearl milk tea, and Depot's fish sliders.
The publication date is set for early next year.
