The Plate of Origin series is back for 2017, and promises to excite and delight diners as chefs from around the country showcase the cuisine and produce unique to New Zealand. The format of the competition sees ten chefs from the Palmerston North/Manawatu region teaming up with chefs from each region in the North and South Islands.
The dishes created by the culinary partnerships will be available at the Manawatu partner restaurants during New Zealand AgriFood Investment Week, with diners encouraged to try a taste of New Zealand with which they are unfamiliar as well as supporting their home region.
The judging team, headed by UCOL Senior Chef Lecturer Mark Smith, will select a winner with the championship dish and partnership announced in May. Diners will also get a say, being able to vote for their favourite in the People’s Choice Award.
