Shocking footage captured the moment a pigeon helped itself to ingredients at a central Auckland Subway restaurant.

The 20 second video, posted to TikTok, has been viewed by over 100,000 since it was uploaded at the weekend.
The video has prompted Subway New Zealand to comment on the matter, as the restaurant chain issued an apology.
“Hey, we’re sorry to hear this. Please contact our Subway team ... Thanks so much, Subway,” the restaurant chain said.
The Symonds Street store, located between the University of Auckland and AUT, has been described by TikTok users as ‘disgusting’ and ‘tragic’.
The store was closed by staff following the incident. A spokesperson said that the franchise takes the health and safety of its customers very seriously.
The spokesperson added that all contaminated food was removed from sale and discarded, followed by an intense cleaning throughout the store. Team members have also reportedly received additional training and have taken extra measures to help avoid this from happening again.
The Symonds Street restaurant is also expected to undergo a full restaurant remodel, as the chain announced it would share its plans of a refreshed look with the community soon.
The restaurant also has an A food grading, according to records published by the Auckland City Council.
A spokesperson for the council said it had not received any complaints about the Symonds Street restaurant, but as it was aware of the incident, it would follow up with the business to see what remedial action had been taken.
This has followed a series of notable pest sightings in hospitality or food service environments.
