Unfortunately it seems that the only thing Auckland and its hospitality industry got out of the latest COVID announcement was picnics.
Kiwi foodservice businesses are a crafty lot, however, and many have taken this opportunity to pivot their offerings to provide consumers with the perfect picnic pleasers.
If you’re looking for inspiration, check out some of these businesses offering their food alfresco:
Cazador Deli has decided to sell tacos with the option for early pick-up for park picnics to celebrate the first weekend with these new restrictions. The Cazador Cantina will have BBQ wagyu carnitas, guacamole, black beans, pickled carrots, fresh salad, salsa, and Crema Catalana.
Culprit. Dining Room & Bar have brought back their Deluxe Meal Kits. With help from the team at ‘MEEZ’ Culprit have taken their meal kits to the next level with more gourmet ingredients, modular packaging and even simpler instructions. Meals are chilled and ready to reheat, assemble and consume.
Dine Out Picnic Pack
The Lodge Bar & Dining in Commercial Bay has kept it simple and classic with their picnic packs. Sliced salami, prosciutto, NZ cheeses, house made pickles and focaccia with a 1L bottle of Antipodes still or sparkling.
PRB Hampers & Grill Kits
Ponsonby Road Bistro is its store front for a range of ready-to-go offerings, including picnics packs and grill kits. Lots of local parks have BBQ facilities so PRB’s grill kit which includes a choice of either marinated chicken and lamb kofta sewers or marinated haloumi skewers plus a bunch of sides is a great option.
