Oz Harvest Community Cook-Off Proves a Success

For the seventh year, the annual OzHarvest Community Cook-off was hotly contested.

With over two million households in Australia struggling to put food on the table, hunger is higher than ever. Organisers said there had never been a more critical time to come together and help needy people.

The OzHarvest team held a series of events that spanned two weeks, incorporating all corners of Australia. Corporate partners and guests from over 1,900 charities Oz Harvest supports were invited to cook alongside leading chefs. My Kitchen Rules stars Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel also made an appearance.

Compass Group once again supported the event as part of its Global commitment to eliminate food waste and aligned with Compass Group Australia’s Purpose. The Group is proud to continue its partnership with OzHarvest, in supporting this annual event and ensuring good food that may typically go to waste across our operations can be repurposed into nutritious meals for those most in need.

As its first Major National Food Service Partner, Compass Group works closely with OzHarvest to help reduce food waste. It has donated over 800,000 meals to Australians in need through its long-term alliance.

Last year alone, across Compass Group’s most important international markets, the Group donated more than 1.3 million meals to local communities.

Compass Group has created a digital cookbook featuring recipes from over 50 Compass Group chefs across nearly 40 countries. The cookbook makes it easy to create meals that give a second life to ingredients that most commonly go to waste.
