MOREISH SET TO EXPAND

Moreish Organic Butchery is set to expand with a new facility and a partnership with an international airline in the works. The Palmerston North supplier has moved from Broadway Avenue to a site near the airport, and co-owner Nicola Fitzsimons said that the new premises would allow the company to expand production and go after larger clients.

One such client is Virgin Australia, which has shortlisted Moreish in its search for a New Zealand meat supplier. The competition was prompted by Air New Zealand’s announcement that it would be serving the meatless ‘Impossible Burger’ on flights between New Zealand and Los Angeles.

“If you've got beef, we want you!” the announcement read. “Virgin Australia wants to meat New Zealand's best meat producers to create an udderly delicious bespoke dish to be served on board flights from New Zealand to Australia. It's not impossible. It's no bull!"

Even if Moreish is not successful in its bid to supply the airline, Fitzsimons said that the exposure was valuable enough, and the company has been approached by new clients already.
