Meet The Barista | Eduard Alvarez, Weave Eatery

Eduard Alvarez and his family moved to New Zealand in 2017. Having experienced the hospitality industry and working at a busy airport cafe, he never thought he would join this industry again.

At the beginning of his career as a barista, the role was merely a means of income, but now, years after gaining expertise, he has learned to enjoy the process of coffee making, and latte art in particular.

As the Head Barista of Weave Eatery, he loves knowing he can make people happy with a good cup of coffee, an Americano being his go-to.

“Made from good quality coffee beans, ground and extracted with preciseness, a great coffee is an intricate mix but a careful balance of taste,” said Alvarez.

Weave Eatery, a spacious cafe perfect for grabbing a snack and studying or having a business lunch, is known for its special menu items, with Alvarez recommending their Not Your Average Benny, Salmon and Spuds and The Chilli Scram.

In his free time, Alvarez spends time with his family and friends at the beach and fishing, which reminds him of his home, the Philippines.
