Barista and front of house at Alimento Eatery, Caroline Olds, entered the hospitality industry five years after realising that university wasn’t for her. The pandemic thwarted her other study plans, so she took the opportunity to dive back into the hospitality sector, with coffee being an avenue she liked.
“I decided to explore it, and here we are today,” said Olds.
Her role aligns perfectly with her love of socialising and being creative, with Olds adding that connecting with people over a cup of coffee felt like the perfect fit.
Alimento Eatery offers a wide range of smoothies to cater to many dietary restrictions, with the most popular being the dragon fruit smoothie, which Olds said tastes as good as it sounds.
Her favourite aspect of her job is seeing all of her regulars daily, as it is rewarding for Olds to have customers choose to start their day at Alimento with a coffee she’s made.
Alimento has a spacious dining area with the ability to hold meetings and a high volume of customers through our doors daily.
“Providing them with delicious coffee gives us a lot of satisfaction.”
When making the perfect cup of coffee, Olds said it was essential to have high-quality and fresh beans as these can make or break a perfect cup of coffee.
Olds orders an oat flat white with a sprinkle of chocolate on top if the mood strikes her, and in her own time, she loves to walk along with the beach or whip up a new batch of baking ahead of her week.
